John Culshaw

John Culshaw has served as University Librarian at the University of Iowa since 2013. He leads the University of Iowa Libraries, the largest library system in Iowa, in providing services, collections, and spaces to the University community and beyond. He received a BA in History from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, pursued graduate coursework in History at Marquette University, and holds an MS in Information Studies from Drexel University.

Culshaw is the co-author of Managing Information Technology: A Handbook for Systems Librarians and has published and presented widely on topics related to information technology in academic libraries, integration of library and campus technologies, and planning and developing library spaces for today’s generation of researchers and learners.

In 2014, he was elected to the Board of Directors of the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL). He is a member of the HathiTrust Board of Governors and will serve as chair in 2018.
